Holiday Reflections: Finding Balance and Hope in Nature

As the holiday season approaches, I find myself reflecting on the importance of connecting with nature—something that has shaped my journey, both personally and professionally. Years ago, walking “El Camino de Santiago” I learned how nature can restore our spirits and offer perspective, especially during challenging times.

This year has brought its share of difficulties for many of us, from global uncertainties to the recent floods in the Pacific Northwest. In the midst of these challenges, I was reminded of nature’s resilience and beauty during a short hike in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. After an extremely busy week, I stumbled upon a remarkable tree—its roots anchored deep, its perfect symmetry, and the beautiful light framing it. Standing before it, I felt a sense of calm and hope. Nature has a way of showing us that, even after storms, balance returns and beauty emerges.

This holiday season, I encourage you to take a moment to step outside, breathe deeply, and let nature’s wisdom guide you. Whether it’s a walk in the woods, a stroll through your neighborhood, or simply pausing to admire a tree, these moments can help us slow down, reflect, and find gratitude in the present.

Let’s remember that, like the tree I found, we too can weather life’s storms and grow stronger. As we celebrate with loved ones, may we also celebrate the healing power of nature and the promise it holds for renewal and balance.

Wishing you all a peaceful, joyful holiday season—filled with hope, connection, and time to appreciate the world around us.
